In this quick, step-by-step, curly, holiday inspired, hair tutorial video, I'm going to show you an easy way to turn a few hair-ball buns into an elegant, and yet messy, half-up, half-down hairstyle for short, medium, or long hair.

This look-like-a twisted half-updo hairstyle, should take you no more than 5 minutes to do, and it's most ideal for busy mornings for work or for school.

You can wear this everyday hairstyle with voluminous curls, waves, or with straight hair.

Cute hairstyles like these can be worn as a wedding hair, bridal hair, bridesmaids hair, to the prom, homecoming, to a date, or to Christmas, and New Year's eve parties.

If you're fond of messy buns or long hairstyles, the poofy half-updos will look great as school hairstyles.

Written steps to this messy bun inspired, twisted, half-up, half-down holiday hairstyle.

First, make 3 ponytails. Take the crown and make the first ponytail, and then grab all the hair above your ears to make 2 additional ponytails.

I've teased the crown before tying it up to create a big, poofy half-updo, but this is an optional step. I do recommend that you put in some teasing into your hair for a formal occasion; for a wedding, prom, or some other bridal occasion so it'll last all night.

Now, simple wrap the 3 ponytails to create 3 small hair buns. Your hairstyle will turn out better if the hair-balls or buns turn out looking relaxed and messy. Effortless hair is always more chic.

Next, secure the hair buns next to each other, making sure there are no gaps in between the buns. We want the hairstyle to look like a intricate, twisted half-up ponytail. It should not look like buns, but a long, messy twisted half-updo style.

I used 3" hair pins to secure the hairstyle, but you can use regular 2" bobby pins if it's more comfortable for you.

As for my curls, for a formal, fancy party, a wedding, prom, or for a bridal occasion, use a 1" curling iron or a flat iron. For an everyday hairstyle, for school, or even for a casual holiday party- Christmas and New Year's eve, use a 2" curling iron to create loose waves instead of tight curls.

You can always wear this messy, half-up, half-down hairstyle on straight hair.
